Last few days
I had an inactive weekend where exercise was concerned. On Friday 22nd I was volunteering near Old Street, and I walked home from that. Saturday involved spodding and a little bit of non-energetic dancing, followed by a late-night walk back from Trafalgar Square (couple of miles). Sunday and Monday I was exhausted by the late night on Saturday plus socialising.
Tuesday saw me with more energy.
doubtfulace and I went for a jog and a walk on Hampstead Heath. We walked from Belsize Park to the South End Green entrance of the Heath, walked up to the mixed bathing pond, then ran up beyond the mens' pond and partway to the ladies' before a hill winded me. We walked up to Kenwood House and had a coffee, walked to Kentish Town via Highgate where we parted. I walked on to Camden Town to buy some essentials from Sainsbury's. The run was 0.8 of a mile, but that included hills so I'm pleased with it. I plan on doing more jogging on Hampstead Heath, hence the new tag.
Today I was determined to go back to the gym. I ran there! I'm really pleased with that. It's only 1.1 miles away, but I get shy about running near home so it's quite an achievement. I'm breaking down some of my psychological barriers.
What I did at the gym:
Assisted pull-ups, wide grip, using 45kg to counter my approx 102kg bodyweight: 8 reps, 10 reps, 8 reps
Assisted pull-ups, narrow grip, 50kg: 8, 8
Assisted pull-up machine, dips, 55kg: 8, 6
Dumbbell bent row, 14kg: 12, 10, 8
Lying dumbbell press, 12kg: 10, 8, 6 (wimped out cos there wasn't enough space and people were doing my head in)
Lying dumbbell flyes: 8kg: 10, 8, 6
Bicep curls on the cable machine, 10k: 10, 8, 8
Standing tricep extensions on the cable machine: 10kg * 6, 6.5kg * 10, 10
13.77km on the reclining bike in 37 minutes, 30 of which were intervals. I set it to 400 calories, though I know the measurement of that is pretty inaccurate.
I wanted to do some deadlifts, but there really wasn't enough room in the free weights area :-( I am going to try using the gym in the mornings, I've been told that that's when it is quieter.
I SERIOUSLY have to stop playing simple computer games, I'm f*cking my wrists up again.
I walked from my gym in Covent Garden/Holborn to King's Cross for a shower, then to south Kentish Town and back for my Slimming World meeting. I jogged for about half a mile of that. Lost 2.5 pounds this week, go me :-) I've discovered that we're allowed vegetable juice as part of our 'free' food. I plan on getting a carrot/beetroot/ginger/lemon juice next time I'm near a wholefood shop :-) Ooh, maybe a shot of fresh wheatgrass.
How's your fitness routine going?
